AVAM, Artistas Visuales Asociados de Madrid, is the professional association that represents the visual artists who reside in the Autonomous Region of Madrid. Its main objective is to enhance and dignify the professional status of artists.

AVAM acts as a liaison between members of the association and the public sector, the regional and national parliaments, and municipal and regional municipalities. AVAM is a founding member of UAAV, Union de Asociaciones de Artistas Visuales, a federation of associations representing more than 4000 artists throughout Spain, and forms part of the Cultural Advisory Board of the Regional Government of Madrid.

AVAM is a professional, not-for-profit entity that was created in Madrid in 2003 as the result of a merger between two existing associations: AVAMI, Asociacion Madrilena de Artistas Visuales Independientes and AAPM, Asociacion de Artistas Plasticos de Madrid, established in 1996 and 1968, respectively.

With over 500 artist members from diverse visual arts fields (electronic art, drawing, sculpture, engraving, photography, performance, painting, video, etc.), AVAM works to improve the conditions under which the artists carry out their professional activity, acting as mediator in cases of abuse against artistic practice and managing new projects and activities for the benefit of AVAM's members.
